Weehawk realizes that Peace is missing, when an unseen assassin kills Sean and kidnaps Elinore. In a forest inhabited by fairies, the group is accosted by their leader, Sean. Avatar, Elinore, Peace, and the elf warrior Weehawk set out to destroy the projector and save the world from another Holocaust. Avatar learns from the robot that the "dream machine" – the projector – is Blackwolf's secret weapon. Avatar subdues the robot and reconditions it for nonviolence, changing its name to Peace "in the hopes that he will bring it". Suddenly, the president is assassinated by Necron 99, a robot sent by Blackwolf to kill all believers in magic. Meanwhile, in Montagar, Avatar trains the president's daughter, Elinore, to become a full-fledged fairy. Blackwolf then discovers an old projector and reels of Nazi propaganda footage from World War II, using his magic to enhance it for psychological warfare: inspiring his own soldiers while horrifying enemy troops into submission. He tries to attack Montagar twice, but is foiled when his mutant warriors become bored or sidetracked in the midst of battle. Three thousand years later, Blackwolf leads the dark land of Scortch, where he and his army of mutants and other evil creatures ( orcs, goblins, trolls, satyrs, dragons, etc.), salvage and restore ancient technology. Blackwolf leaves Montagar, vowing to return and "make this a planet where mutants rule". After Delia's death years later, Blackwolf attempts to usurp her leadership, but Avatar defeats him in a magical duel. While her people celebrate 3,000 years of peace, Delia, queen of the fairies, falls into a trance and gives birth to twin wizards: the kindhearted Avatar and his evil, mutated brother Blackwolf. The humans who survived the apocalypse have been transformed into mutants, while humanity's true ancestors- fairies, elves and dwarves-resurface and live in the idyllic land of Montagar. Understanding these differences will help greatly in knowing when to use each orientation. To help, however, we have outlined some of the main differences in composition and style that landscape and portrait orientation provide. As you develop your skills, you will experiment with both orientations and develop a second nature for when to use either portrait or landscape. In this guide, we are specifically looking at Landscape vs Portrait orientation – not the photography subject. What are the Differences in Landscape vs Portrait Orientation Photography? As with landscape subjects, portrait subjects can also be taken in both landscape and portrait orientation. The person is the central subject of the photo. Portrait photos generally mean a photo that contains people. It is important to note that landscape photos can be taken in both landscape and portrait orientation. The example below shows a sweeping landscape in Snowdonia National Park. Landscape photos could specifically mean an epic photo of a whole area. Landscape vs Portrait Stylesįinally, landscape and portrait can also mean a style of photography. Portrait mode is great for shooting close-up portraits of people – like headshots, as it can separate the subject from the background, and give quality skin tones. This means that you can capture landscape shots easily and that both the background and foreground will be in focus.Īlternatively, in portrait mode, a larger aperture is selected, and in some scenarios, the camera flash may be enabled. In landscape shooting mode, a small aperture is usually selected, together with a slower shutter speed and a low ISO like ISO 100. These are automatic shooting modes that choose the settings to suit either a portrait or landscape composition. These types of pages with a light background image and darker text look fresh and allows the text to pop.Did you know that many cameras have landscape and portrait shooting modes? This is mainly found in point and shoot cameras, or beginner cameras that may not have advanced DSLR functionality. Landscape design also allows for using an entire image as a background. For anyone viewing the eBook on a mobile device, a landscape layout will improve the user experience. That’s the number one reason to design in landscape format. For imagery, don’t opt for photos on the left and text on right. If you choose a portrait design, using columns of text may be confusing, stay with one column. Some would say it’s logical and allows for top down consumption of information. There’s nothing “wrong” about portrait design. However, that’s not exactly how users interact with content anymore. A PDF screen would pop up, and readers could easily scroll. People downloaded content mainly on their desk top. This traces back to before thoughts of mobile friendliness. Portrait has been the traditional layout for most pieces of content. The first decision in layout is portrait versus landscape. One of the most important considerations in eBook design is layout. eBook design makes good use of imagery, allowing users to follow a story. EBooks are a great way to deliver content to audiences. Place the line art at the top of the layer stack and set its layer blending mode to Multiply. If your images have a white or other single-tone background, you can use either of the following methods to prepare the art for coloring: This can be either an image created digitally or something that was done outside the computer and has been scanned. Often an artist, for example a comic book colorist, will need to take a pencil sketch or other line art of some sort and use Krita to paint underneath it. You can view the recorded speed painting demo for the above image on Youtube. Below is an example of speed paint done by David Revoy in an hours time. Krita has some efficient brushes for this situation, for example, the brushes under Block Tag like Block fuzzy, Block basic, layout_block, etc.Īfter the composition and a basic layout has been laid out the artists add as many details as possible in the given limited time, this requires a decent knowledge of forms, value perspective and proportions of the objects. Generally, artists first block in the composition by adding patches and blobs of flat colors, defining the silhouette, etc. Speed painting then can be taken forward by adding finer details and polish to create a final piece. Some artists set a time limit to complete the painting while some paint casually. Finishing and finer details are not the main goals of this type of painting, but the representation of form value and layout is the main goal. As the name suggests a technique of painting done within a matter of hours to quickly visualize the basic scene, character, look and feel of the environment or to denote the general mood and overall concept is called a speed painting. Some artists work only on the digital medium, sketching and visualizing concepts in Krita from scratch. Below are some of the common workflows used in Krita: Speed Painting and Conceptualizing ¶ However, let us look at what artists do in Krita. The brush tool is selected by default and you just have to paint on the canvas. When you open a new document in Krita for the first time, you can start painting instantly. This section explains some common workflow that artists use in Krita. Krita is used by comic artists, matte painters, texture artists, and illustrators around the world. When you have mastered those, you can look into the dedicated introduction pages for functionality in the User Manual, read through the overarching concepts behind (digital) painting in the General Concepts section, or just search the Reference Manual for what a specific button does.Krita’s main goal is to help artists create a digital painting from scratch. If you are new to digital art, just start with Installation, which deals with installing Krita, and continue on to Starting Krita, which helps with making a new document and saving it, Basic Concepts, in which we’ll try to quickly cover the big categories of Krita’s functionality, and finally, Navigation, which helps you find basic usage help, such as panning, zooming and rotating. If you are familiar with digital painting, we recommend checking out the Introduction Coming From Other Software category, which contains guides that will help you get familiar with Krita by comparing its functions to other software. Welcome to the Krita Manual! In this section, we’ll try to get you up to speed. 10 It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”ġ1After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep but I am going there to wake him up.”ġ2His disciples replied, “Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.”ġ3Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.ġ4So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” 5Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.ĦSo when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days,ħand then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”Ĩ“But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”ĩJesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? There are several things to consider when assessing the risks. Risks of Bee Stings With DogsĪ bee sting is not just a bee sting when it comes to your canine. There are things to consider, leading to certain action steps to take in a bee stinging incident. However, it’s also not recommended to do nothing about the bee sting depending on the situation. It’s rare for bee stings to result in life threatening situations for your dog. With that said, ease your mind and don’t worry. It’s actually quite common for dogs to get stung by a bee and dog owners usually freak out when they see it. The problem with a dog chasing bees is that sometimes the bee will want to retaliate or simply protect themselves by stinging what they see as a threat. My corgi, like many other dogs, loves to chase anything, from flies, birds, other dogs and even bees. But sometimes, that curiosity can put them in a threatening situation. If your pet displays any of the signs mentioned above, or you're concerned about his or her symptoms, call us immediately. If you haven’t noticed already, dogs are extremely curious and playful animals. Since bees are particularly attracted to sugary foods and beverages, keeping them out-of-reach can help protect your family and your pets from painful stings.īee or wasp stings are little more than a minor, but temporarily painful, nuisance for most dogs. Removing Food Promptly: After you enjoy a meal on your deck or patio, cover or remove leftovers as soon as possible.Keep flowering plants in your yard behind fences and dissuade your pet from sniffing plants when you're out for a walk. Limiting Exposure: If your dog can't reach flowering plants, he or she is less likely to be stung. If you do notice hives or nests, remove them promptly or ask a professional exterminator for help. Check the nooks and crannies of your property weekly for signs of hive or nest building. Even if your pet isn't usually allergic to stings, being stung many times can expose him or her to large amounts of venom that can cause a severe reaction. Checking for Hives and Nests: Dogs are curious by nature and don't understand it's not a good idea to poke their noses in beehives or wasps' nests. You may not be able to prevent all stings, but there are a few things you can do to lessen the chance your dog will get stung. Severe swelling in the mouth, nose, throat or neck warrants an emergency trip to the veterinarian. Although your pet may not be allergic to bees or wasps, stings in these sensitive areas can cause swelling that partially or fully blocks airways, making breathing difficult. Problems can also occur if your dog is stung by a bee or wasp in the nose, mouth, or throat. Your pet may need to stay at the vet's office for a few days while he or she recovers. Once your dog arrives at the office or clinic, he or she may be treated with injected Benadryl, fluids, and steroids. Visit your local emergency clinic if the vet's office happens to be closed when the sting occurs. If you notice any of these signs, take your dog to the veterinarian immediately. Signs of a possible allergic reaction may include: Since pets require different dosages than humans, you'll want to be sure to give the veterinarian a call. Before you offer your furry friend the over-the-counter medication, ask the veterinarian if it's a good idea. Oral Benadryl can also be helpful in reducing swelling. Leave the compress in place as long as your dog will allow but for no more than 20 minutes at a time.Īfter a few minutes of cold compress therapy, most dogs will feel much better and won't require additional treatment. If you use a frozen compress, be sure to wrap it in a towel to prevent frostbite. Cold washcloths, freezer gel packs, ice in a resealable bag, or bags of frozen vegetables make good compresses. Bathing can help dislodge the stinger and help soothe the skin.Ĭold compresses offer a simple way to reduce pain, redness, or swelling. If you can't locate the stinger, give your furry friend a bath instead. Instead, gently scrape the stinger off with the edge of a credit card and wash the skin with warm soapy water. Don't use your fingers to pull out the stinger, as you may accidentally force more venom into your pet's skin. In fact, venom continues to enter your pet's body for several minutes after a sting unless you remove the stinger. Honeybees leave their stingers behind when they sting. If your pooch does encounter a stinging bee or wasp this spring or summer, these steps can help soothe the pain. Although bee stings certainly aren't comfortable, they usually don't cause severe allergic reactions in dogs. Taking the time to stop and smell the roses (or any flowers) can lead to a painful experience for your dog if a bee happens to be hovering nearby. Dogs and Bee Stings: What to Do If Your Pet is Stung Windows 3.0 in 1990 was the first version of Microsoft Windows to feature support for wallpaper customization, and used the term "wallpaper" for this feature. Mac OS 8 in 1997 was the first Macintosh version to include built-in support for using arbitrary images as desktop pictures, rather than small repeating patterns. The original Macintosh operating system only allowed a selection of 8×8-pixel binary-image tiled patterns the ability to use small color patterns was added in System 5 in 1987. Subsequently, a number of programs were released that added wallpaper support for additional image formats and other features, such as the xpmroot program (released in 1993 as part of fvwm) and the xv software (released in 1994). In 1989, a free software program called xgifroot was released that allowed an arbitrary color GIF image to be used as wallpaper, and in the same year the free xloadimage program was released which could display a variety of image formats (including color images in Sun Rasterfile format) as the desktop background. The X Window System was one of the earliest systems to include support for an arbitrary image as wallpaper via the xsetroot program, which at least as early as the X10R3 release in 1985 could tile the screen with any solid color or any binary-image X BitMap file. History Original computer wallpaper pattern, as used in Xerox's Officetalk and Star On older systems which allowed small repeated patterns to be set as background images, the term desktop pattern was used. The term " wallpaper" was used in Microsoft Windows before Windows XP (where it is called the "desktop background"), while macOS refers to it as "desktop picture". Though most devices include a default background image, modern devices usually allow users to manually change the background image. On a computer, wallpapers are generally used on the desktop, while on a mobile phone they serve as the background for the home screen. Decorative background on electronic devices A computer screen showing a background wallpaper photo of the Palace of Versailles A wallpaper from fractalĪ wallpaper or background (also known as a desktop background, desktop picture or desktop image on computers) is a digital image (photo, drawing etc.) used as a decorative background of a graphical user interface on the screen of a computer, smartphone or other electronic device. |
